Procedure enrolment master courses for students planning to start the Master in February

The Master IR starts in the February semester with these four courses (30 ECTS):

  • Advanced Theory and Research Practice in International Relations (5 ECTS)
  • Capita (compulsory track-specific) (5 ECTS)
  • Research Seminar 1 (compulsory track-specific) (10 ECTS)
  • Research Seminar 2 (10 ECTS)

Research Seminars

You will have to submit your preference for the two Research Seminars yourself from:
12 January 12.00 hrs (Noon) until 30 January 2026 23.59 hrs (Midnight). The link to the Preference Form for Research Seminars will be posted on this page.

*In the form you will be asked to indicate both a first and a second choice per research seminar. Allocation to the research seminars will be done by the Department: we will do the utmost to place you in your preferred research seminars, but because of scheduling and overall availability of places in the research seminars we cannot guarantee you will be placed in your first choice.

**After you submit your preference, you will be registered in Progress for your Research Seminars before 7 February 2026. Research Seminars start in the week of 9 February 2026.


 

 

Research Seminars

East Asian Studies Exchange semester
For students of East Asian Studies who have applied for an Exchange Semester:
  • you should have your courses approved by the Board of Examiners (boex.arts@rug.nl)
  • enrol for your courses at the host university.

  • After you submit this form you will be enrolled for the Professionalization electives mid February 2026.
You will be registered in Progress for the Placement when you submit this form.
Please note: We will organise a second enrolment option for the Professionalization electives end of March/beginning of April: if you have not found a placement by then, you still have the option to apply for Professionalization electives in stead.
