Admission and application guide for the Master History

Introduction

The one-year Master's degree programme History aims to train socially aware historians who can make contributions with a sound academic basis to the way we address the past, both in history as an academic field and in related sectors of the labour market. In this master you will learn to work with the Groningen model: from a historical perspective, providing insight into current issues, this with emphasis on practical historical applications at an academic level.

The Master History offers three professionally oriented Master tracks:
  1. History and Heritage Consultancy
  2. Politics, Organizations and Learning Histories
  3. Un / sustainable Societies: Past, Present and Future
In each Master track you will follow a flagship course and matching method courses and together with all master students you will participate in the Masterclass. You deepen your content by choosing from the many research lectures. Finally, there is the possibility to graduate with a thesis or in an alternative way, such as an organizational research, policy analysis, an exhibition plan or the development of teaching materials.
